Mr Christos Karras was born in Solingen, Germany in 1968 and is a career diplomat (First Counsellor of Embassy). He is a graduate of the Greek National School of Public Administration and the NATO Defense College and he has a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a degree in Literature from the UK Open University.
During his diplomatic career, he has served at the Embassy of Greece in Tehran, Iran, at the Embassy of Greece in Belgrade, Serbia, and at the Embassy of Greece in Moscow, Russia. He has also worked at the Directorate-General for International Economic Relations, the Directorate for NATO, and the Directorate for Arab Countries and the Middle East of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In December 2017 he assumed his duties as Consul General of Greece in Sydney.
Mr Christos Karras speaks English and French fluently and he has a good command of Italian, Spanish and Russian. He is married to Mrs Ekaterini Gkikiza and they have three children.
