Petros Printezis was born in Nafpaktos, a coastal town in Western Greece, in 1929. “I have always been interested in theatre since a very young age,” he said to George Michelakis in October 1986. “Financial hardships were always an obstacle. My mother became a widow at a very young age. She struggled to bring up six children. In 1947, I joined the Royal Navy and served for seven years. I migrated to Australia in 1956…”
Upon arriving to Australia, Petros worked for IXL factory, Phillips Industries, Odeon Music House and at a Travel Agency on Illawarra Road, Marrickville. During the time that he was working for Phillips Industries he was approached by Kikis Efthimiou who suggested he joined the theatre. “Vicious cycle” directed by George Mavridis, was the beginning of his theatrical career where he played alongside with Petros Nyfakos and Kiki Efthymiou. Petros proved to be very talented and starred in about 70 comedies.
Petros sadly passed away on the 31st July 2010. His obituary is featured in www.forget-me-not.com.au
