Bringing contemporary Greek theatre to audiences in Australia
Who we are
We are a dynamic group of artists with a passion for Greek theatre. We comprise of members who are Australian born of Greek heritage and new to Australia, born and raised in Greece. We launched as an eclectic, cultural blend in 2017 to sold out performances of Soutzouk Loukoum in 2018, Sorry Wrong Bed in 2019, and will continue to present quality theatre productions each year.
The founding members of the theatre group of Dionysus Theatre Company are Vangelis Chouliaras, Maria Chouliaras and Lucy Miller.
Our vision
We work to promote Greek language and contemporary Greek culture in Australia whilst expanding into bilingual and multilingual theatre beyond Greek theatre to reflect the rich multicultural landscape of Australia.
Our mission
We are constantly monitoring artistic productions locally and abroad. We present a modern repertory to Australian audiences by providing surtitles in English during performances whilst also acting as a voice of expression to the current new wave of Greek migrants
