...To wish Senator Dorothy Tangney a Happy Xmas, a Greek woman wrote a poem in her honor,"You impressed me as the first Australian intellectual female I met," she wrote. Sen. Tangney, who has just returned from Brisbane, was a fellow passenger of the Greek woman on a previous trip East from Perth.

DOROTHY TANGNEY
A face from picture of Watteau/Vivacious, sweet, and pretty;
A plumpish figure in a smart manteau,/A mind charming, quick, and witty.
A heart like shining gold,/Pure, merciful, and just;
Small hands that deftly hold/The law, the power and the trust
With grace and courage bold./She challenge will and-dare,
And wants the truth prevail/Such is Australia’s fair
