Kostas Strafiotis was born in Sydney on the 18th June 1961 to Nick and Maria Strafiotis. He grew up in Greece and returned to Australia in 1980, when he was eighteen years old. He had to attend special English classes to pick up the language and a year later he went to College to study Architectural Drafting. In 1986, when interviewed by George Michelakakis, Kostas had another year to complete his degree and was working part-time as a greek teacher in a school in Kingsford. He also had a part-time job in a retail shop. Kostas tried to keep Greece alive in his heart and found ways to preserve his Greek identity; he had a Greek radio program in 2SER (Sydney Education Radio), every Saturday, 4-5 pm and also got involved with the Greek theatre… For full interview in Greek please go to Greek tab.
